Trident Energy was founded in 2003. From the outset, our mission has been to develop innovative, low cost and scalable power take-off solutions for the offshore renewable energy industry.
In 2005, we completed the first wave tank trials of our linear generator technology at NaREC, supported by grant funding from the Carbon Trust. These trials confirmed the predictions of our performance model which we developed in collaboration with the University of Cambridge. Building on this success, we undertook further technology development resulting in two additional series of NaREC wave tank tests in 2006 and 2007. We went on to design and manufacture our technology at full scale and are currently undertaking an extensive programme of onshore testing.
In 2011, we opened an office in Glasgow and expanded our team. Our focus is now on completing the onshore testing of our generators and moving on to offshore trials planned for 2012.
