Our engineering team focuses on the long-term integrity, reliability and performance of our technology. We have been developing PowerPod since 2003 through a structured programme of research and development.
Onshore Testing
In 2011 we built an onshore test rig to assess the operation of our full scale prototypes. We are using this test rig to characterise the performance of our generator and support the development of new control system strategies.
Wave Tank Testing at NaREC in 2005, 2006 and 2007
We were the first company to generate electricity in the NaREC wave tank. Our technology has undergone three series of extensive tests at this facility which have validated our performance models and tested optimisation and operation in extreme wave conditions.
NaREC is the UK’s national translational research centre for accelerating grid integration of renewable energy systems and catalysing the development and deployment of offshore renewables – wind, wave and tidal energy generation technologies.
